It feels like we were forecasting summer’s biggest trends just yesterday, predicting that elevated flip-flops were going to take over. Now, in the blink of an eye, August is coming to an end, and it’s time to trade those open-toed flats for something a little more structured and closed—loafers.

For fall, loafers remain a classic footwear choice. This year, however, it’s not just any loafers that fashion people will be wearing. It’s a specific style. We got the scoop from social media influencer, actress, and fashion content creator Nailea Devora, who shared that tassel loafers are the trend to watch. These playful yet polished shoes have the same silhouette as classic loafers with their laceless, low-cut slip-on design, and the tassel accent hanging off the top of the shoes adds movement, texture, and depth to the sleek style. While many brands have already leaned into the look, Devora notes that her favorite is the Adrian Tassel Arcadia Rub Off Loafers from Dr. Martens.

“These loafers are comfortable, durable, and well-made,” Devora tells Who What Wear. “I love that the shape is classic, but the Arcadia rub-off, which slowly reveals more color as you wear them, and the tassel give it a modern twist. It’s the best of both worlds.” What makes them even more special is the nostalgic feeling they lend, and Devora shares she used to wear Dr. Martens growing up. “I’ve been wearing Dr. Martens since middle school,” Devora says. “My first memory is begging my mom for a pair because Luke Hemmings wore them. She surprised me with them for Christmas, and I remember walking back to school feeling like the coolest person ever.”

That early connection to the brand makes these loafers feel even more personal, but for Devora, their appeal goes far beyond nostalgia. She also loves how versatile they are. “These loafers are one of those that work for everyone,” Devora says. “They instantly elevate a look but are still easy to wear every day.” This makes them effortless to style when your wardrobe relies on basics like Devora’s. “I like to say my style is built on staples,” she adds. “When styling these, I’d start with denim since [loafers and jeans] always look good together. Then, I’d add a white sock for a nice pop and a simple top like a black tee or a turtleneck.” While Devora notes that this is a pared-down combination that you can’t go wrong with, she also mentions that you can wear them with maximalist pieces to make them look bold.
