Forest Gump taught us that life is like a box of chocolates… You never know what you’re going to get. And, as a part of life, moving into a new place is certainly no exception.
Moving into a new home in a new place is such a grab bag. If you bought the house, there’s always the worry that there might be something wrong with the place, lurking and waiting to be discovered, but regardless of whether you’re renting or buying, you’re always at the mercy of the unknown that is the other people you’re moving in next to.
It doesn’t matter whether you have several acres or a thin apartment wall separating you from your neighbors; it’s a toss of the dice every time as to just how pleasant and agreeable they are going to be to live next to.
Some people have their claws out before you’ve even moved in, and before you’ve finished settling in to the dang place, you know that you’re in for it. They might come at you all fake-nice at first, like this, too, seeking to establish a high ground by gaslighting you into agreeing to unfavorable terms because “that’s just the way things are around here.”
That’s pretty much what’s going on in this exchange. This woman was hardly done moving into her new home when her neighbor, the grey text bubbles, messaged her seeking to claim exclusive rights to the parking space in front of the woman’s home for her nanny to park in. She claimed that there had been an arrangement with the previous owners, but this did little to sway the woman into caving to this bizarre request. That’s when the neighbor showed her true colors, which had been thinly veiled from the outset, becoming quite nasty and even reporting her fence to the city over bogus claims.
