I wish I could muster authentic surprise, but it is Wario we’re talking about: an individual whose inverted virtues (and occasional forays into ill-fated entrepreneurial schemes) place him against mankind and perhaps history itself as a base and prolific villain.
The Trademarks make it pretty clear; there is definitely a bit of wiggle room when it comes to slithering runes I guess but even as crawling sigils go we gotta say this is Divinity Type Shit.
The Divinity games go back a ways, but after a few bouts with traditional publishing Larian’s turn to Kickstarter beginning in 2013 is now a Canon Event in CRPG lore. Now Baldur’s Gate 3 is a sort of assumption, the face that launched a thousand thinkpieces, but these games made them the heir apparent for a form that was largely considered kink, but not common fare – more like on the level or vore or inflation.
And you can say WHAT or whatever, but these games let you bone as your astral self or get fucked by a bear. I’d say novel enthusiasms – i.e., being fucking weird – are probably required for the magic they managed to perform, and are not done performing.
